Fantasy Football Tips

Ten Commandments of Fantasy Football

1) Draft RB’s who play on good teams. Good teams are more likely to be leading late in the game (they keep running). Poor teams on the other hand usually fall behind earlier which can force them to throw the ball.

2) Pay attention to bye weeks when drafting. You do not want 4 of your 6 WR’s to have the same week off.

3) If you follow the old strategy that it is best to draft kickers who kick in dome’s (no weather issues), throw it out the window. In 2004, the top 6 scoring kickers all kicked in stadiums. In fact, so did 13 of the top 14.

4) Draft with your head, not with your heart. People that draft with their heads tend to over pay for certain player’s. On the flip side, if you know of an owner who does this, make him overpay for his favourite player.

5) Avoid RB’s who fumble often, they tend to get replaced near he goal line. They also have a higher risk of losing their jobs.

6) Do not overlook WR’s. Most owners go crazy on RB’s and in the process, they tend to ignore WR’s. Big mistake!

7) There are generally only a handful of TE’s worth drafting. It is a good idea to grab one.

8) Do not get carried away with over hyped rookies. This is not the NBA. NFL rookies usually take a year or two to adapt. Let someone else over pay.

9) On draft day, have a solid strategy going in and be prepared to alter that strategy as the draft unfolds. If a QB run starts and you do not yet have one, you might have to draft one earlier than you expected. You do not want to end up with a stinker.

10) Bring at least one cheat sheet with you to your draft. This way you will be able to keep track of valuable information (which sleepers are left, etc…). In fact, why don’t you bring ours?

Good Luck,
